Learning by DoingProcess Writing Comes Alive Through Teamwork at SEPS
Our Standard 4 students were all in as they jumped into a hands on process writing activity that had the classroom buzzing with excitement. Working in teams, each student had a clear role to play. The supervisor kept everyone on track, the resource manager handled the materials, the scribe captured each step in writing, and the reporter got ready to share the final work.
Students followed the process as they made lemonade or jello, talking through each step as they poured, mixed, and measured. You could hear them using words like first, next, and finally as they worked, making real connections between what they were doing and how they would explain it in writing. The energy in the room was high, and everyone was focused and involved.
When the activity wrapped up, the scribe passed the written instructions to the reporter, who confidently presented the process to the class. Students listened, nodded, and asked questions, showing just how invested they were in both the activity and the learning.
This lesson was a great reminder that when students learn by doing, writing makes sense. Our Standard 4 students showed teamwork, responsibility, and excitement as they brought process writing to life in a fun and meaningful way.
