Why Play Matters at Our School
At Santa Elena Primary School, we see play as an important part of a child’s day, not just a break from lessons.
During break time, our children run, talk, laugh, and sometimes simply sit and rest. These moments help them release energy, build friendships, and learn how to interact with others. Play gives children space to practice sharing, cooperation, and problem solving in natural ways.
We know that play does not solve everything, and it does not look the same every day. Some days are busy, some days are loud, and some days require guidance from teachers. Still, we value these moments because they help children return to class more settled and ready to learn.
At Santa Elena Primary School, we try to protect break time as a space for movement, connection, and growth. We see it as one of the many small but important ways we support our children as they learn and develop each day.
